This 3 August 2022, our Executive Director, Lawalley Cole was delighted to meet Her Excellency Madam Yaprap Alp, Ambassador of Turkey to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union. Their meeting was very cordial as they exchanged on various areas that Turkey will be intervening in following the Joint Action Plan agreed upon during the Third Tรผrkiye-Africa Partnership Summit held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 16-18 December 2021 and hosted under the auspices of H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey. Turkey and the African Union will cooperate in various African Union flagship and continental framework programs. Turkey will provide technical and financial support in several areas of cooperation that include:
1. peace, security, and governance,
2. trade, investment, and industry,
3. education, STI skills, youth and womenโs development,
4. infrastructure, development, and agriculture,
5. promoting resilient health systems, and
6. joint monitoring and evaluation.
CAFOR is looking forward to providing its utmost support in the areas of education and youth skills development within the framework of this program. We take this opportunity to thank H.E. Ambassador Yaprak Alp for the very pleasant audience granted to our delegation and for the great work that Turkey is doing to support Africa.
