We were delighted to meet this morning – Friday, 24 March 2023, with the new Permanent Representative of the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) to the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa, Ms. Néfertiti MUSHIYA TSHIBANDA.
We briefed each other on various issues regarding the situation with young people in Africa and what our organizations, OIF and CAFOR, are now doing to address issues affecting young Africans.
We spoke at length about our various projects on education and training and the problems related to youth employment on the continent. OIF and CAFOR have been developing new and innovative strategies to support youth education, skills development, and all those issues related to work and the well-being of young people in Africa. All this is in the context of transforming education and training in Africa. Currently, CAFOR’s projects primarily focus on English-speaking countries on the continent.
CAFOR will be delighted to work closely with French-speaking member states of the African Union and their training institutions to support youth development in francophone countries. To this end, CAFOR will work closely with the OIF, already well-established with viable structures in French-speaking African countries.
