On October 7, 2025, young voices from India and Ethiopia came together in a powerful virtual dialogue to commemorate the UN International Day of Non-Violence — celebrating the enduring legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and Africa’s own icons of peace, Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu.
More than 40 students from Ashoka Group of Schools (India) and Nazareth and Cruise High Schools (Ethiopia) shared thoughtful presentations on:
✅ Ending Violence Against Women and Children
✅ Protecting Senior Citizens
✅ Combating Violence Against Migrants and Immigrants
The session was graced by H.E. Ambassador Anil Kumar Rai, Ambassador of India to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Dr. Lawalley Cole, Executive Director of CAFOR, and Dr. Dinesh Sabnis, AGM–Sports and Activities, Ashoka Group of Schools.
In their addresses, the speakers highlighted the vital role of education, empathy, and youth engagement in promoting peace and non-violence across borders.
CAFOR applauds the remarkable collaboration that showcased the transformative power of education and dialogue in nurturing a new generation committed to peace, respect, and human dignity.
Together, we reaffirm that non-violence is not just a philosophy — it is a daily practice that begins in our classrooms, communities, and hearts. 💙🌿
