News | metting with Professor Theodore Menelik, the CEO of Menelik Education in Cambridge, United Kingdom

It was with great pleasure that we welcomed Professor Theodore Menelik, the CEO of Menelik Education in Cambridge, United Kingdom, who visited us in our office at AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa on Thursday, March 30, 2023, to discuss various areas of cooperation with CAFOR, and to establish a Memorandum of Understanding with CAFOR.

Professor Theodore Menelik was born in Ethiopia to parents from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and carried those great names. During our working session, we discussed many areas of cooperation that bordered on facilitating research on various pan-African initiatives currently underway, supporting CAFOR’s initiatives on stakeholder mobilization and sensitization, and supporting CAFOR’s capacity-building initiatives.

CAFOR will soon open its Regional Office for the Central Africa Region in Kinshasa, DRC, and appoint its first Regional Director. Professor Theodore Menelik will be facilitating the setting up of the CAFOR Regional Office in Kinshasa through Menelik Education, and CAFOR will be inviting prominent institutions like the Higher Institute of Statistics of Kinshasha (Institut Supérieur de Statistiques de Kinshasa – ISS-KIN) to become a full-fledged member of CAFOR and work in various areas in the African continent. ISS-KIN is multidisciplinary and intervenes in six major disciplinary fields, trains statisticians, documentalists, commercialists, transport Managers, and rapid operational engineers to be remarkably adaptable to technological and societal changes.

In the coming weeks, CAFOR will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Menelik Education based in the United Kingdom and works principally in the DRC, where the parties will define their areas of cooperation. The Regional Office in Kinshasa will be the first of seven regional offices that CAFOR will open in Africa in each of the five regions, Europe and the Americas.
