The representation of Africa in the media continues to be based on narratives of generalizations of either a “Dark continent” or an “Africa rising”. The potential impact of those stories has been widely observed in the ways that Africa and its people relate to each other and the policies formulated towards Africa. How can individuals and organizations challenge the narratives on Africa and address the tensions between the global and local perspectives?
