The Coalition on Media and Education for Development Africa Forum (CAFOR) is partnering with the European Business University (EBU) in Luxembourg to strengthen capacity for African youths by providing 50 scholarships through CAFOR for African students in the areas of TVET cum business studies. The purpose of this scholarship is to ensure relevant education for young Africans that would make them employable in their countries or within the continent.
The EBU is committed to providing affordable quality education to as many people as possible. One way they are targeting to achieve that is by offering scholarships to students who are unable to access education from all over the world. The EBU is currently offering scholarships to students from Africa and Asia. You can find more details about this programme on this link: https://ebi.lu/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/The-EBU-Scholarship-Programme.pdf
During the past year, EBU offered scholarships to several African students. They managed to enrol a total of 30 students from all over Africa, i.e. Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia and so on. The students enrolled had the opportunity to take the Foundations in Business Management/Administration course.
At present, the EBU would like to train up to 1,000 students from all over the world, but that they will be offering 50 scholarships to CAFOR for African students. With these scholarships, students will not pay tuition and will be provided materials free of charge. Also, that African Professors, first from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), which is a key partner in this initiative, together with CAFOR and EBU, will participate in the course.
In this respect, CAFOR is inviting applications from suitable candidates with concise profiles to submit their applications on or before Wednesday 27th May 2020. CAFOR is looking for a diverse group of candidates from Africa, regardless of education, age and social class. If scholarship candidates want to convert the certificate awarded into a diploma or degree award, they will then have to fulfil the criteria of having a recognized secondary school education, submitted TOEFL and training transcript as found in the EBU guidelines on https://ebu.lu/online-application/. Our primary purpose is to strengthen existing skills of young entrepreneurs between the ages of 21 and 35. Young entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds but who are doing well will receive special consideration.
We have minimal time to make the selection, as CAFOR has to submit the 50 names from the various African countries by 1st June. The initial 13 weeks course begins on 8th June.
Please submit your application to the project’s focal point Ms Hemalatha Vanam, CAFOR’s Regional Programme Officer in Nairobi, Kenya. Her Email address is h.vanam@cafor.org.
